My name is Carl Byington, owner of The Artificers, and I am privileged to welcome you as a guest to our online storefront. I have a beautiful wife along with our son and daughter whom I love dearly, and am ever grateful to have their continued love and support as I pursue my passion of designing quality leather goods.

As the quote above may lead some of you to quickly discern that I am truly a nerd at heart. I am just that, a nerd obsessed with playing MTG Commander (EDH) and Warhammer 40K when and wherever possible, and what my wife would describe as an obsessive love for 80's /90's era movies.

Growing up in the small rural town of Byron Center, MI, I was always outdoors getting into some sort of trouble with my friends and siblings. That often also included fabricating some sort of monstrosity to suit the needs of whatever adventure we were about to embark on. To their credit, my parents embraced this outlook on life and encouraged me to pursue through trial and error how things worked and what not to repeat again.

Later in life I discovered leather crafting and pursued it as a hobby at first until I chose to take things to the next level and pursue this as a career pathway. I take pride in my work, and dedicate my skillset to creating the best possible products for the people I have the privilege to share it with. I am grateful to have the means of expressing myself through my work while also providing you the user with rustic, luxury, and locally sourced materials to produce the quality goods I enjoy making and you will hopefully enjoy long term use of.
